Special Czech Traffic Orders

  1. Vehicles have to switch on their head lights all day long;
  2. Children of all ages can sit on front seats too. Children who are younger than twelve have to use a child car seat. This apply to persons in between twelve and eighteen years too, if they are smaller than 1.50 metre;
  3. At pedestrian crossings vehicles have to make possible crossing the street by pedestrians (does not apply for privileged vehicles like police, fire brigade and emergency medical service if they exhibit lighted blue lamp or exhibit lighted blue lamp and sound a siren). Pedestrian should cross the street only on pedestrian crossings;
  4. Drivers have to use a hand-free kit for phone calls during they are driving a vehicle;
  5. Vehicles which are driving in a roundabout have right of way, if the right of way is not regulated by a traffic sign;
  6. If a driver starts to break because of a critical situation (e.g. accident), it have to switch on the warning lights;
  7. If a multi-lane road passes into a single-lane road, the vehicles should merge in zip-fastener manner;
  8. Bicyclist who are younger than fifteen and all motorcyclists and pillion riders have to wear helmets;
  9. Bicyclists can overtake convoys of vehicles on the right sight too;
  10. It is forbidden to move into crossroads when there is no possibility to pass the crossroad and to continue moving because of the traffic situation;
  11. If there are no casualties in a traffic accident, you have to call the police not until an adversity over 20,000 Koruny (about 800.00 EURO*) or when the persons who are involved can not agree on the blame;
  12. Privileged vehicles (e.g. police, fire brigade and emergency medical service) have absolutely right of way, if they exhibit lighted blue lamp or exhibit lighted blue lamp and sound a siren.
